What’s up with Conservation Hardware?
As many of you know, the Conservation Hardware retail store on Tejon street has moved. Due to poor location and not being fit for a retail space, we had to leave 409 North Tejon. We were sad to go, especially because so many people worked so hard to make it so beautiful.
But fear not, conserving crazies! Conservation Hardware is alive and well! Our products are still available via our online store, as well as at Conservation Kiosks located at Poor Richards Bookstore and the UCCS Bookstore. We are working on getting these kiosks at other locations around town as well. Still the same great products, at crazy low prices-cost plus 10 percent!
Now, for the really good stuff. Richard and I have just returned from a trip to Louisiana where we were tutored by the good folks at Green Light New Orleans on how to conduct a massive CFL installation campaign. In just a few years time GLNO, with the help of volunteers, sponsors, and local utilities, has installed over 200,000 CFLs-for free! Now, it’s our turn. With the help of Colorado Springs Utilities, we will be launching a pilot phase in the coming weeks.
If you would like to sign up to volunteer, apply for free bulbs, know of a good sponsor, or would just like more info, email us at info@conservationhardware.org. We plan to launch the project in June, and are aiming to install 25,000 bulbs over the first five months.
